My Top 5 News Sources

Typically while I’m at home, the TV is usually on a News Channel. However while I’m away from home, at school, or elsewhere I rely heavily on mobile news apps, websites, podcasts, and unfortunately Social Media.

On the TV, My family and I choose to watch Fox news. But with that being said I couldn’t care less about the political environment displayed on many news channels today, I have my opinions and I try not to let a paid actor’s tone, or script for that matter, effect them.

Barstool Sports is probably one of my favorite websites to read the “news”. Now I completely understand that it is little more than a satire blog forum, but that is the best part! It keeps you updated on basic and major current events in an engaging way, updating you on what to look into and dive deeper to find.

The Hard Factor News Podcast is my daily driver! It was at one time a product of Barstool Sports, but has since broken off in independency due to its wild popularity. I love this podcast because the hosts are not only are great friends, yet also ranging widely on the political spectrum, and still bring you the most important news stories. As well as a bunch of heart-warmers and definitely some jaw-droppers on “Florida Man Friday”

How can you choose to listen to anybody but these guys?

Unfortunately a huge majority of my news intake comes from Social Media. It’s incredibly polarizing and I hate it. But like with Barstool, I take it with a grain of salt, as surface research and nothing more. With that said many of the recent posts have been about the current political climate: Gun Control. With more breaking news shootings then I’ve ever seen before the media is slowing, but surely still brainwashing people on both sides.

Now I haven’t necessarily used this News App, yet, but it has been in the back of my mind: NewsBreak. I was listening to a podcast with the creators of NewsBreak, and from what they said it seemed intriguing. It’s a simple news app that just send you customizable notifications at a time of your choosing. plain and simple and little added confusion.
